Teens and Tweens are invited to attend special craft afternoons at the library! All supplies are provided and it's free! For ages 9-18.

Central Library, beloved by the community since 1913, is now open with modern enhancements for you to enjoy!
Join us for a 45 minutes walking tour through the building. No registration required.
Kids Junk Orchestra's Rhythm & Motion Class
Kids will love making noise with Kids Junk Orchestra! Through the use of non-conventional items such as buckets and recycled items, youth learn how to create various sounds and rhythms. This class focuses on group cooperation, basic rhythm drumming skills, team building, specialized drumming instruction and a safe environment to perform musically.
Lunar New Year Family Craft
Join us in the makerspace to welcome 2025, the year of the Snake! This afternoon, we will offer special Lunar New Year crafts that celebrate and highlight the diversity of our community. Supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. All are welcome!
Children in fifth grade or younger must be accompanied by an attentive adult or teen.
Lunar New Year: Craft Your Own Lion Dance Head
Get ready for Lunar New Year! Join us at the Midland Library to craft your own lion dance head - we'll supply all the necessary crafting materials. You can join the White Lotus lion dance team and celebrate with your new creation on Sunday, February 2nd!
Digital Audio & Visual Production Drop In
Come in, collaborate, and create in a supportive environment! Whether you're refining a project or exploring new tools and ideas, this program is designed for you.
We provide everything you need, including computers and iPads loaded with cutting edge creative software, MIDI controllers, and headphones. Plus, technical experts will be on hand to support your creative journey.
Hand Felted Portraits
Learn how to make a felt portrait with artist LeBrie Rich. Kids will create a wool textile portrait using the ancient craft of wet felting. For fancy presentation, color the ornate frame to display your portrait. Color, cut and paste custom “personality icons” (think: emojis) around the frame to complete the story of the person (or animal) pictured.

Work on the DIY craft of the week, or do your own thing with our location's craft materials! Sew, paint, glue, make, design; the sky's your limit! Learn alongside others, share your knowledge and explore new ways of making things!
A Good Yarn Knitting & Crochet Group
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced knitter, come join the fun as we learn together. All experience levels and ages welcome. Please bring your own supplies.
K-12 Virtual Tutoring / Tutoría Virtual
Virtual Tutoring is for students in grades K-12 who need support in language arts, math, science or social studies.
We offer three terms a year, each running for 8 weeks.
The student’s weekly appointment will be for 30 minutes on Tuesdays, sometime between 4 and 6 pm. They will be assigned an exact timeslot and tutor prior to the start of the term. These remain the same for the entire term.
Read to the Dogs
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. The dogs and handlers are from Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Dove Lewis Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams and Pet Partners®. For kids and teens. Call 503.988.5123 to register.
Teen Anime and Manga Club
View, review, snack and yak about all things anime and manga. We meet the fourth Tuesday of the month to discuss our favorite series, watch anime, read manga, and eat snacks!
Queer Youth Club
A safe place where ALL are welcome to be themselves. Find support, eat snacks, get creative, discuss favorite books, and more! Bring a friend, or make a new one. For grades 5-8.

Graphic Novel Club grades 6-8
Middle school students are invited to talk about comics and eat snacks! Every meeting includes a short activity related to this month's book. A limited number of books are available for pick up at the library.
